How to Drive UFO - (UFO Locations)

Have you seen an unidentified flying object in the sky while in Mario Kart World's free roam? It's more than just a fun drive-by easter egg. If you can get beneath a UFO's tractor beam, you can drive it! Here's how to find a guaranteed UFO in Mario Kart World and how to drive them.

How to Find a UFO

Play

First, you can only find UFO in Mario Kart World's Free Roam mode. They can pop up what seems to be randomly (we're still testing this bit,) but there are a few specific areas you can find one to get a UFO test drive, guaranteed.

Regardless of how you found the UFO, there seems to be a consistent time-limit of only 30 seconds! The UFO will disappear, and you'll be left gliding from the spot.

UFO Location 1 - P-Switch in the Meadows

One surefire way to find a UFO to pilot is by activating this P-Switch just north of the Moo Moo Meadows track in the center of the map.

From Moo Moo Meadows, head north on the road that leads out. You can see the spot marked by the star in the screenshot above, but eventually you'll see a P-Switch in the grass on your left.

Activating it immediately puts you in the control of a UFO with the task to "Search fields. Abduct Blue Coins." Use R to use the tractor beam!

Unfortunately, you can't take this UFO out for a joyride post-challenge. But, there are other ways to find a guaranteed UFO!

UFO Location 2 - Secret Spot in the Woods

The next guaranteed UFO spawn point is just west of Mario Circuit in the woods, across the bridge over the river.

This is just on the border of the volcano area. Once you've crossed the bridge, look for a tree on the gloomy side of town. Drive behind it off-road, closest to the cliffside.

Keep to the left and drive through any fences. Don't worry, it's not actually dangerous. After driving through a torch-lit path, you'll find the UFO!

Drive underneath the beam it emits to be pulled into the UFO to become its driver! At least for a short while.

This UFO seems to always spawn here, so even right after it disappears, you can fast travel back to Mario Circuit and make your way back to this spot to find it again.

Other UFO Sightings

We've also received UFO sightings somewhat randomly around the map. If you see it, follow it for a bit, and it might get close enough to the ground to beam you up! The UFO in the screenshot above was spotted just south of Choco Mountain in the central area of Free Roam.

Where else have you spotted UFOs? Let us know!

If you do see a UFO, consider taking advantage of its airborne abilities to grab Peach Medallions in hard-to-reach locations!

How to Drive the UFO

The UFO works much like a regular kart, except it is fully airborne. Hold R to use its tractor beam, but know that this will slow you down a bit while it's held.
